Privacy Policy

A plain-language privacy policy for the data confessional: what we collect, why we use it, and how to reach us.

Last updated: July 2, 2026

The Orlando Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, The Abbey of St. Gertrude de Nivelles (“the Orlando Sisters,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. We are a community organization, not a data-hungry dragon in a wimple. This policy explains how we handle information when you use this website, contact us, donate, register interest in events or membership, or interact with services linked from this site.

This policy is intended to be clear and useful. It is not a substitute for legal advice, and it may be updated as our website, tools, or saintly paperwork evolve.

Information We Collect

We may collect information in the following ways:

  • Information you provide directly, such as your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, organization, message, volunteer or membership interest, grant inquiry, event request, or other details you choose to send us.
  • Donation and payment information when you choose to donate or buy tickets through a third-party processor. We do not intentionally collect or store full credit card numbers on this website.
  • Technical information, such as IP address, browser type, device information, referring pages, pages visited, timestamps, and similar server log information.
  • Cookies and similar technologies used by our hosting provider, embedded services, forms, analytics, anti-spam tools, or linked third-party platforms.

How We Use Information

We use information to support the work of the Abbey, including to:

  • Respond to messages, questions, invitations, and requests.
  • Process donations, acknowledgments, event interest, or participation.
  • Coordinate volunteers, membership interest, grants, outreach, and programs.
  • Maintain website security, troubleshoot errors, and improve performance.
  • Understand which pages and resources are useful to our community.
  • Comply with legal, accounting, nonprofit, tax, or safety obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We are in the business of universal joy, not vending your inbox to the highest bidder.

Third-Party Services

Some actions on or from this website may use third-party services, such as donation processors, event tools, Google Forms, email providers, maps, social media sites, hosting providers, analytics, or media storage. Those services may collect information according to their own policies.

When you follow a link to another website, you are stepping into someone else's chapel. Please review that site's privacy policy and settings.

Sharing Information

We may share information only as needed, including with:

  • Authorized Sisters, Guards, volunteers, board members, or contractors.
  • Service providers who help operate the website, forms, email, donations, or events.
  • Professional advisors such as accountants, attorneys, or compliance support.
  • Authorities or other parties when required by law or necessary for safety.

We ask people with access to personal information to handle it with care, discretion, and a healthy respect for boundaries.

Retention & Security

We keep information only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose it was collected, for organizational records, or as required by law. Some records, such as donation acknowledgments or governance materials, may need to be retained longer.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect information. No website can promise perfect security, but we do not treat your data like confetti at a Pride parade.

Your Choices

You may contact us to request that we review, correct, or delete information you provided, subject to legal or operational recordkeeping needs.

You can also adjust cookie settings in your browser, unsubscribe from email updates where an unsubscribe option is provided, and avoid submitting optional information you do not want us to receive.
