Ministry
To give a voice to the meek and allow people to let their true worth shine. To dance, bring music, bring games and bring fun.
I started my journey in Chicago, back in 2011 I was part of a burlesque-style men's dance troop called FurrLesque - raising awareness regarding a healthy body image for men of all sizes. After a few months I began to volunteer at Test Positive Awareness Network (TPAN) assembling condom kits for their summer festival season, since they had supported FurrLesque - I felt it was important to support them. Heading the program at the time was my future big Sister, Foxxxy Moron. She invited me to a meeting that July, just days after my 30th birthday. Now I had met sisters prior to this (a story for another time) and thought to myself (back then) that it just wasn't possible for me, being too concerned about what other's had thought of me. During my postulancy, I helped clean up a burned out apartment of a magazine publisher, who was a dear friend to the sisters; supported The AIDs Run/Walk; the Mr. International Rubber competition; and supported several community events. In February of 2012 I was elevated to Novice, continuing my desire to work with the community and to have fun. Foxxxy and the other Windy City Sisters had helped me with my Novice project that spring: a Charades night at a neighborhood bar. We successfully raised money for the Windy City Sisters Granting fund. On a fateful monday that June, The Windy CIty Sisters were granted house status by the United Nuns Privy Council and we celebrated by having a float (Paradea Manaround) in the Chicago Pride Parade, taking our public vows, and getting honored with our black veils. 2013 would see me working more in depth with the community in Chicago, networking with Trident Windy City, The Great Lakes Bears, The Chicago Dragons Rugby Team, EdgeAlliance, and my dear friends with the Windy City Imperial Court. Given my support of the Imperial Court, Emperor IX Herman awarded me the title "Grand Duchess for Life." 2014 proved to be a more difficult year for me, I had just overcome a terrible illness and had some other personal issues, I was not going out as much as I would have liked. I initially sought retirement that October, my last event in Chicago being the Suicide Prevention Walk. After experiencing yet another brutal Chicago winter (19 inches of snow!!) my new partner had convinced me to seek an easier life elsewhere. One day in conversation he just said "let's move to Orlando" - so we packed up that February, I was thankfully reinstated by my Chicago Sisters and my transfer letter was off to Orlando. As much as Chicago is, and will always be my hometown (though I wasn't born there either), I really enjoy Orlando. My first few months have been a blast and I look forward to serving my community once again with renewed conviction. What's in a name?: My current name was not my first choice, after being told my first choice was already taken, I was listening to "Starry Eyed" by Ellie Goulding. Feeling that it fit me at the time, I decided that should be my name, owing to the fact that everyone has that need (and deserves to be) a star.
